LYRICS PART 3

We Can Learn To Fly

Gail Marten

Let’s have a picnic in the park

A fiesta in the sun

You and me and everyone

Let’s have a picnic in the park.

Let’s take a stroll down Lovers’ Lane

Hang out with the birds and bees

Darlin’, underneath the trees

Let’s take a stroll down Lovers’ Lane.

bridge:

Life will pass you by

Waiting for the bell to ring

I’m not getting any younger

And I’ve got this song to sing.

Let’s dance beneath a million stars

Gazing at the silver moon

I will sing your favorite tune

Let’s dance beneath a million stars.

Let’s take a drive down to the sea

We’ll go walking hand in hand

Building castles made of sand

Let’s take a drive down to the sea.

Let’s pay a visit to the zoo

Monkey see and monkey do

You love me and I love you

Let’s pay a visit to the zoo.

bridge:

Life will pass you by

Waiting for the bell to ring

I’m not getting any younger

And I’ve got this song to sing.

Come on, throw caution to the wind

Don’t let the good times pass us by

Baby, we can learn to fly

Come on, throw caution to the wind.

tag:

Hey, baby, we can learn to fly.

Let’s dance beneath a million stars.

Hey, maybe we can learn to fly.

Let’s take a stroll down Lover’s Lane.

Hey, baby, we can learn to fly . . .

What The Heck Happened To Me?

Gail Marten

Once I was stunning,

Now…out of the running,

Please, pour me a glass of chablis,

First I was hot, and then I was not

What the heck happened to me?

A national treasure

Who gave so much pleasure

Loved by the bourgeoisie

Didn’t read books, got by on my looks

What the heck happened to me?

bridge:

That beautiful face

Not even a trace

Of the femme fatale I used to be

That girl in the mirror

Beginning to fear her,

What the heck happened to me?

Legs that stopped traffic

So photographic

Nothing like they used to be

With varicose veins, resembling brains

What the heck happened to me?

My rump’s gotten bigger

What’s with my figure?

Where is that glass of chablis?

My clothes are all shrinking

I’ve taken to drinking

Oh, what the heck happened to me?

bridge:

Just look at that face

Not even a trace

Of the beauty queen I used to be

That girl in the mirror

Beginning to fear her,

What the heck happened to me?

last:

Expired complexion

It won’t pass inspection

Eyes that once sparkled and gleamed

The beautiful chassis

That used to be classy

Oy, what the heck happened to me?

reprise: A physical wreck, ah, what the heck,

What the heck happened to me?

Who Would Know?

Gail Marten

Who would know

Who would care

Love and war,

All is fair.

Who would see

Who would hear

We have nothing to fear.

bridge:

Oh, what’s the harm

There’s no need for alarm

Why can’t you see it

Our little secret

Meet in the park

Just a kiss in the dark

Am I asking so much

An occasional touch.

Rendezvous

in our dreams

All is not

What it seems

Who would know, who would know?

Anytime, anywhere

Who would know, who would care?

You Had Me At Hello

Gail Marten

Our meeting was not by chance

Nor fortunate circumstance

Predestined at our first glance

The start of a love affair. //////

Much more than a cameo.

You said we should take it slow

You're my reluctant Romeo

And you had me . . . at hello.

It was so plain to see,

That this was our destiny.

So clearly meant to be.

The start of a love affair.  //////

The future was in your eyes

A doorway to Paradise

Imagining the afterglow.

And you had me . . . at hello.

You're Secret's Safe With Me

Gail Marten

I think that you may find

that we're two of a kind

with virtues not so easily defined

And now that we're alone,

Without a chaperone

I must confess I've secrets of my own

bridge:

This may come as a shock

But I’ve been around the block

I’ve had a fling or two

Well, more than just a few.

I've been so circumspect

My manner so correct

No one would suspect

They just would not believe.

So…do we have a deal

Never to reveal

What they don't know

Your secret's safe with me

bridge:

This may come as a shock

But I’ve been around the block

I’ve had a fling or two

Well, more than just a few.

So . . . do we have a deal

Never to reveal

What they don't know

Your secret's safe with me
